Starring the Healthy Food Princess and Mystery Readers

Our new Unit of Inquiry - "We use our imagination to extend our ability to think, create and express ourselves" is shaping up to be a hit with all the children! On Tuesday we had a mysterious visitor come to our class. The children got to ask 20 questions to try to figure out who this mysterious person was, where they live and what they do. The children really used their imaginations and had amazing ideas. They decided that this mysterious visitor was the "Healthy Food Princess" :-) and then each got the chance to draw and explain where they thought this princess lives and what she does.

Here are a few thoughts:

Renia - The Healthy Food Princess lives in a veggie patch. If kids don't want to eat their fruit and vegetables the Healthy Food Princess uses her magic wand to get them to try the fruit and vegetables.

Marcus – The Healthy Food Princess lives in space and travels to Earth by rocket ship.

Jeslyn – The Healthy Food Princess lives in a castle called the Healthy Food House. She uses her magic wand to control the stars to plants fruit and vegetables.

Panha – The Healthy Food Princess lives in the sky and plays with her magic wand and flies everywhere. She goes around picking all the good fruit and vegetables.

Next week you will all have the opportunity to see your child's fabulous ideas during the 3 way conferences.

We have had a brilliant week and been very busy painting, decorating, glittering and designing our imagination area. When you walk through the tunnel and use your imagination you can go anywhere!!

Mystery Readers

We were very lucky this week to have not only one but two mystery readers!

A very big THANK YOU to Susan (Renia's Grandmother) for coming in and being our mystery reader on Wednesday. We were treated to a story was about a little girl who dreamed really big! Great choice to go with our Unit of Inquiry at the moment on "Imagination"

Susan read - "Me...Jane" written by Patrick McDonnell. The book tells of Jane Goodall as a child and the journey that she took to be where she is today. Being noted as one of the world's most inspiring woman. Dr Jane Goodall dreamed big as a child about "a life living with and helping all animals," until one day she finds that her dream has come true. The children really enjoyed the book and had a LOT of                                                                  questions :-)

Our second mystery reader:

A very big THANK YOU to Anton's Grandmother who came to read to us on Thursday. Such a treat to have visiting family members come into the class and share a story.

We listened to a delightful fairytale - "Clumsy Hans" written by Hans Christian Anderson. The fairytale told of a princess who was looking for her husband that had the most to say for himself. Clumsy Hans brothers were off to try and win the princess and only laughed at Clumsy Hans when he said he would come along to try to win the princess too. Of course he won her and they were married.

This Semester we are looking for lots more people to come in and share a story with us. If you would like to be a mystery reader please follow the link to sign up.

Have a great weekend everyone!
