WHO WE ARE: INTERACTIONS

Central Idea:

    Lines of Inquiry:

Math will be taught in three ways; integrated into the unit of inquiry, stand alone Math and on-going Math exploration.

During the ‘Who We Are’ unit of inquiry, Math will be taught as follows:

Integrated Math:
We will keep working on extending counting sequence and number sense.
We will use different aspects of the unit of inquiry in order to represent and interpret data. For example we will relate our morning question to the unit and use this to create graphs.

Stand Alone and on-going Math:
We will keep working on the relationships and properties of addition and subtraction.
Students will learn and master addition and subtraction within 10 and up to number 20 using various strategies to make counting simpler or faster.
We will be working on simple addition and subtraction equations.

HOW CAN YOU HELP YOUR CHILD?
Practice numbers that add to 10.
Estimate the number of things around.
Count the number of things around. Work together on strategies you used to make your counting faster.
