It's that time of year! Please help us celebrate a year of learning and fun! Details and sign up sheet can be found HERE

We would like to begin our Mystery Readers in October. Please click on the link to sign up for a week that works best for you. You can also find out more information about what a mystery reader is by following the link. Remember if the time doesn't fit with your schedule I am more than happy to discuss another time that would be better for you.

It really is a highlight for the children and they are so happy when we have a special guest so please don't be shy!

Dear Parents,
Welcome to the new school year! My name is Kelly Davidson, this is my fourth year teaching at ISPP and I will be your child’s Grade 1 teacher. I am from New Zealand and have been teaching internationally a long time. I have lived in South Korea, Vietnam, Germany and Cambodia! Our class teaching assistant this year is Mr Borey. We are excited about our great group of students this year! The first week of school we will just be getting to know each other, learning about our new classroom and our daily routines. Mr Borey, our class teaching assistant, and I already have a good feeling that this will be a wonderful school year!
Below you will find some crucial information that will help us to all work together:
School Day Begins at 7:30 a.m.:
Please make every effort to get your child to school before 7:30 am so that your child has a chance to interact with their friends and teachers and get organized for the day. Students should arrive at school between 7:15-7:30. Please note that there is no adult supervision for students who arrive before 7:15. Please feel free to have a chat with us at the beginning of the day if you have any questions or concerns.
Snack and Lunch:
Snack break is from 9:00-9:30 a.m.  Please send your child to school with a small healthy snack.  Lunch break is from 11:30 - 12:30  Students may purchase lunches from our new cafeteria. Please refer to the Epicure emails for more information about the school lunch programme. Children may still bring their own lunch to school with them, or food from home may be delivered just before lunch-time. Food delivered from home should be placed in the baskets provided. Each basket is labelled with a photograph and the name of the homeroom teacher. Please make sure your child’s lunch box is clearly labelled with their name and their class teacher’s name. Eating time is a great opportunity for the children to get to know each other and develop independence. Extra supervision is provided to assist your child at lunch time.
Birthdays:
If you would like to celebrate your child’s birthday at school please discuss this with us. We usually like to do birthday celebrations at the end of the day at 2:00 but other arrangements can be made depending on your schedule. We would prefer treats that are in individual portions, eg. donuts, cupcakes, cookies. Please provide paper plates or any utensils the children may need.  Please do NOT send or bring soda (pop). You are welcome to be at the celebration.
Volunteering in the classroom:
We encourage and appreciate parents who are keen and able to help in the classroom with the children and their learning. Please let us know if you wish to become involved so we can agree on an appropriate time. You will find our unit of inquiry information on the blog, so if you have any special interest or expertise in those areas it’d be great to hear from you.

Communication:
We are proud to announce our Grade 1 class blog. The web address is: http://mskellysclassispp.blogspot.com/ Please subscribe to our blog and check it at least every Friday to see what we have been doing each week. Here you will also be able to find out what the students are learning in our units of inquiry, reading, mathematics and about field trips and other events.

In KG you would have been able to see what your child was doing in class via ‘storypark’ - in Grade 1 we will be using a different platform called ‘seesaw’. The school is moving towards using a consistent platform but this takes some time, so sorry for the change over this year. To begin with, to see your child’s portfolio there you only need to click on the link below and select your child.

You may also correspond anytime by e-mail, which is helpful for individual inquires and questions. My email address is

kellydavidson@ispp.edu.kh

We are looking forward to teaching your child this year and we appreciate the support and encouragement you give your child at home.  Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.  We have much to learn, do, see, and experience this school year!
Kind regards,

Mrs. Kelly and Mr Borey
