What is your favorite time of the day?
Art- Grade 1- Unit 4
How, why, and when do we work together to make art?
We found out that working together takes many social skills including compromise, cooperation, and good communication. We worked together not just to create art, but also to investigate new art skills, brainstorm ideas for artworks, and evaluate our artworks. Using the “Creative Cycle” helped us to record our process of art making each time we worked with a new group. Click here to see a video of me working collaboratively in art.
Unit 4 Music: Animal Songs

Art- Grade 1- Unit 3
How can I make connections between my emotions and my artistic creations? During my 3rd unit in art, I explored ways of planning and creating abstract sculptures to express different emotional experiences from my life. I used lines, shapes and colors that represented my feelings using a variety of art materials. I also learned how to use mindfulness exercises to connect to my emotions using my mind and body. Here are some examples of my art making throughout this unit of inquiry:
"This artwork is about Mr. Furious. In Mr. Furious's day, when someone did nothing to him, he feels low furious. When someone kick him a little, he feels medium furious. When someone punches him and someone bump his car, he is super furious. He has one more low furious when someone accidentally hit me a little bit. I showed the emotion by using red, green, purple, and light blue, curly line, squiggly line."
