How, why, and when do we work together to make art?
We found out that working together takes many social skills including compromise, cooperation, and good communication. We worked together not just to create art, but also to investigate new art skills, brainstorm ideas for artworks, and evaluate our artworks. Using the “Creative Cycle” helped us to record our process of art making each time we worked with a new group. Click here to see a video of me working collaboratively to make art.

Art- Grade 1- Unit 3
How can I make connections between my emotions and my artistic creations? During my 3rd unit in art, I explored ways of planning and creating abstract sculptures to express different emotional experiences from my life. I used lines, shapes and colors that represented my feelings using a variety of art materials. I also learned how to use mindfulness exercises to connect to my emotions using my mind and body. Here are some examples of my art making throughout this unit of inquiry:
"This artwork is about Mr. Surprised. In Mr. Surprised's day, the low one he sees something amazing in the TV. Then the medium is he so very surprised at his artwork. Surprise Birthday is the high one. I showed the emotion by using the patterns make me feel surprised. And the medium surprise have only 2 colors so I get only medium surprise. So the one pattern I got so low surprise because have don't have more colors. Then the pasta makes me more surprised because it can be like a gate. If we have a lot of children and they want to run so we put a gate on it. The wire is where the children play when they come. Sometimes they want to go to the bigger one and maybe their parent don't want them to go. The feathers make me feel surprise becuase they're so fluffy and you can touch it. The 2 gates are the one who open and close so if somebody try to go inside at nighttime, the gate is locked and no one can go inside unless they have a key. Also the window they can sneak inside and play more fun."

Now we are extending our shapes investigation to 3D.

Music, Unit 2: Artistic Me
After choosing our picture for our inspiration, we thought about words that described our picture, words that said what the picture was doing and what was in the picture. We then tried to give these words musical sounds. Below is our composition that was inspired by our picture. You can find the picture I chose in my music book.
COMMUNICATION
We found
different ways that we can communicate to each other.
Vannissa's work on English and Maths are quite good. Her artwork is very impressive. We are hoping to see more of her work related to writing and the story planning and whiting are the good example.
