Art- Grade 1- Unit 4
How, why, and when do we work together to make art?
We found out that working together takes many social skills including compromise, cooperation, and good communication. We worked together not just to create art, but also to investigate new art skills, brainstorm ideas for artworks, and evaluate our artworks. Using the “Creative Cycle” helped us to record our process of art making each time we worked with a new group.

Sharing the Planet
I wrote a report on Dolphins.
I researched information and created a diorama to show the environment my sea animal lives in.
Unit 3: Music and Drama - Express YourselfDuring our music time, explored mime and music and how they connect to emotions.
Here I am using mime to show the emotion, anger.

Art- Grade 1- Unit 3
"This artwork is about Ms. Happy. In Ms. Happy's day, she has a holiday with her friend, Suixin. And the middle, her wanted to dance with a friend and kind of scared, but kind of happy. Then the low one is she tried to help someone and feel kind of happy. I showed the emotion by using the lines to wiggle. It make me happy because it look like a slide and I can jump on like a little mountain. Also, the pink think I can wiggle and it's so fun. I'm so happy. Then like a flying thing I can sit on it and that thing can make me fly. I can hold it like my animal. I love the wiggly and bouncy."

My Crazy Hair!
Shapes are everywhere!
Now we are extending our shapes investigation to 3D.
We have been exploring 2D Shapes. Look at the different shapes we found around our school.

Music, Unit 2: Artistic Me
After choosing our picture for our inspiration, we thought about words that described our picture, words that said what the picture was doing and what was in the picture. We then tried to give these words musical sounds. Below is our composition that was inspired by our picture. You can find the picture I chose in my music book.
COMMUNICATION

Unit 1 Music - Notating Rhythms
Our first unit was about learning music notation for rhythms. After composing our own rhythms, we then collaborated to compose a new piece of music. Here we are playing our piece of music.
Art- Grade 1- Unit 1
In art classes, we explored what an “art medium” is and which we preferred. We investigated why an artist might use charcoal, watercolor, printmaking or clay when they make art. I thought carefully about which art medium to use each class and why. Here are some photos of my art making process throughout the unit.
