Celebrating Earth Day

It was so great to see all the children arrive at school wearing green and showing their support for Earth Day! We started the day by doing a quiz about how the ocean is affected by plastic and pollution. We did a great job and answered all the questions correctly. Next we split into three groups, each group had a question that they had to find the answer to. One group was counting how many trees we have on campus, another group was looking at how many different types of trees we have on campus and the last group were checking to see if there was rubbish lying around and if there was where was it. The groups did a fantastic job and were very thorough with their investigation.

Our class also showed their support for Earth Day by having a meat free lunch and we were treated to a 'flash mob' by the Grade 3 students in the cafeteria!

We ended our day with our favourite thing to do - hanging with our buddies! The Grade fives are learning about body systems and helped the Grade ones to draw and label a gingerbread person with all the major organs. They also let the Grade ones use their models and take our the organs and have a look at where they are in our body and what they look like. It was very interesting!
